Clogged drains are a fact of life in any home. At some point, your kitchen sink or bathroom shower drain will need to be cleaned to remove drain clogs that obstruct the drain. Also, bear in mind, that plungers rarely work with just a few pumps, and you'll have to plunge at least 15 to 20 times with rapid movements to be able to dislodge the clog. When a plunger doesn't seem to help dislodge the clog, use a plumber's snake to clear the drain. A plumber's snake is a flexible apparatus with a handle at one end, and a hook at the other. By turning the handle, you can hook the clog and then remove it from the drain.

Be careful of what you push down your kitchen sink or toilet, use tub and shower strainer covers to catch stray hairs and pieces of soap, and run hot water down your drains regularly.
